 Spent 5 months in Thailand.

Great Gatsby - all 20’s/30’s vintage all the time.

The relaxed friendly atmosphere.

What’s one of the coolest, awesomest, funnest things you’ve ever done?

The thing I’ve done that probably sounds the coolest is moving to L.A. and optioning a screenplay, but meeting my husband, then having our son (when I was 40!) was much more awesome. 

What’s your favorite thing to do at Pike Place Market?

Shop for vintage magazines. 

What’s your favorite wedding style or theme? 

Edgy, funky, unique weddings that you might see on Offbeat Bride or Rock n Roll Bride.

What do you like best about working with Bella Umbrella? 

Taking on Bella Umbrella as a client has introduced me to a whole new beautiful wedding world. I love that looking at gorgeous wedding photographs, writing about them, and pinning them is part of my daily life.

What’s one of the coolest, awesomest, funnest things you’ve ever done?

Summer student exchange to Germany. Bavaria is my favorite place in the world. Ich liebe Deutschland! 

What’s your favorite thing to do at Pike Place Market?

Anything that involves eating. And here at the market there is a plethora of great options. 

What’s your favorite wedding style or theme?

Any style featuring pagoda umbrellas. Vintage or done with our Bella Signature, the shape just photographs amazingly.

What do you like best about working at Bella Umbrella?

Working with the most amazing women ever! I learn something new almost every day.

What’s one of the coolest, awesomest, funnest things you’ve ever done?

I studied abroad in New Zealand and in the first week I went on an adventure to a cave. I was unaware of all that this cave adventure entailed; and much to my surprise I ended up donning a wet suit and rappelling down a waterfall into a cave! Definitely the craziest thing I’ve ever done!

What’s your favorite thing to do at Pike Place Market?

I love getting some fresh flowers and getting some Beecher’s Mac and Cheese! 

What’s your favorite wedding style or theme? 

I’m slightly obsessed with weddings (I love them all), but I narrowed down my style to: Handmade Vintage Local Urban Chic! I love everything handmade and unique, and I also love all the cool vintage wedding accessories! Local - because Seattle has so many great things to offer (think Molly Moon’s and Cupcake Royale); I also really like the idea of incorporating the city into your special day.

What do you like best about working at Bella Umbrella?

I love creating umbrella magic every day! I like seeing people’s awed faces while I’m working on an umbrella (I’m pretty surprised when things work out sometimes too)!

What’s one of the coolest, awesomest, funnest things you’ve ever done?

With only a few days of planning my husband, our dog Dazzie and I packed up everything we owned and moved across the country to a place I’d never even visited before. We’ve been in Seattle three years now and I still feel like I’m on vacation.

What’s your favorite thing to do at Pike Place Market?

People watching. It NEVER gets old.

What’s your favorite wedding style or theme?

When you can tell a couple is true to their individual style, that’s my favorite.

What do you like best about working at Bella Umbrella?

I’ve always worked in the wedding community, mainly designing and printing invitations and ultimately disposable products. I love working with vintage umbrellas because I feel like it gives new life to something so many years old, something that can continue to be reused and live on. Also, how many people can say they work at an umbrellas shop? In Seattle?!

What’s one of the coolest, awesomest, funnest things you’ve ever done?

Moved to Dublin, Ireland without a job or a place to live.

What’s your favorite thing to do at Pike Place Market?

Eat mini doughnuts and listen to the barber shop quartet.

What’s your favorite wedding style or theme? 

Vintage Hollywood Glamour. The most important things are to keep a sense of humor during your wedding and remember that as long as you, your fiancé and the officiant show up…the rest is gravy.

 This one. Show the handle! That is why I love this umbrella.

Pike Place Pal: Market Optical

Jodell got some cool new glasses recently from her Pike Place Market neighbor and friends at Market Optical. And, yes. That’s glitter!

This wasn’t Jodell’s first visit to Market Optical. She got her first pair of glasses from them twenty years ago, and has been a longtime fan and supporter of this local business ever since.

Wedding Wednesday: Isadora's Antique Jewelry

We’re so excited to be participating in our very first Wedding Wednesday! Join us here each week for wedding fun, style, and general loveliness. 

This week we’d like to share one of our favorite Pike Place Market neighborhood shops that we share a special history with, Isadora’s Antique Jewelry. Isadora’s owner Laura Dalesandro met Jodell at a Seattle wedding show in 2004 and offered to be the Bella Umbrella pick up spot for local brides before Jodell had a storefront. Jodell would drive over from Duvall and drop off the rental umbrellas at Isadora’s, and from there they’d make their way to beautiful weddings around the Pacific Northwest. 

Isadora’s has some of the most beautiful, unique, antique jewelry that you’ll find. Brides-to-be love finding their engagement rings and special wedding jewelry at this lovely Pike Place Market institution.
